Based in Northern NSW and working with women locally and across South East Queensland, the practice takes hormonal change seriously rather than dismissing it as "just hormones." A natural medical companion to the psychological work at Her Mind Institute, for women who want their care joined up across both.

Autism CRC is the world's first national, cooperative research effort focused on autism, and Australia's independent national source of evidence for best practice across the lifespan and the spectrum. Its work spans the National Guideline for the assessment and diagnosis of autism through to research, resources and tools developed alongside the autistic community. A trustworthy starting point for women who want evidence-based information rather than guesswork. Best read as a research and reference hub, not a clinical service.

Dr Russell Barkley is one of the most respected voices in ADHD research and education, and this page collects his accredited video courses on ADHD and executive functioning. The courses span the nature and course of ADHD through to diagnosis, assessment and treatment, including dedicated material on ADHD in adults. They're designed for professionals and carry continuing education credits, so this is a learning resource rather than a quick read. A strong reference point for anyone wanting depth from a leading authority in the field.

LOAPAC, the League of Autistic Psychologists and Affirming Colleagues, is an Australian network of neuroaffirming psychologists, many with lived experience as Autistic practitioners themselves. Alongside its Register of Affirming Psychologists, it connects people to allied and medical professionals who work from a neuroaffirming position, and advocates for Autistic rights and reliable information. For women looking for care that understands the neurotype from the inside, its directory is a genuinely useful place to start. A warm, values-led companion to the work we do at Her Mind Institute.

How to ADHD
Logo-Transparent-1.png

How To ADHD is the site and YouTube channel created by Jessica McCabe for people whose brains work differently and who need to work differently because of it. Its videos and tools are organised around real life, self, home, relationships, work and school , so the strategies land where they're actually needed, and the whole project recently grew into a New York Times bestselling book. Warm, practical and refreshingly free of jargon, it's a great everyday resource for women navigating ADHD. A friendly first stop between appointments.

SO OCD

So OCD is an Australian resource created by two friends who both live with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, built to help anyone understand what OCD actually is and how to find help to manage it. It walks through the territory clearly, what OCD is, its subtypes and causes, and some honest mythbusting, alongside practical guidance on mental health care plans, finding the right professional, and treatment options. Grounded in lived experience and free of stigma, it makes a often-misunderstood condition feel approachable. A reassuring place to begin for women who suspect OCD might be part of their picture.

A few books we come back to often, for women making sense of themselves, and for anyone who wants to understand the inner world behind a diagnosis.

A highly accessible guide to the many ways autism can present, particularly in people who camouflage their traits and are often missed or misdiagnosed. Written from a neurodiversity-affirmative stance, it speaks to clinicians and everyone else alike. A clarifying read for women who've long sensed something was missed in how they were understood.

ADHD & Women

by Dr. Jolene Brighten

ADHD and Women explores the connection between hormones and ADHD across the female lifespan. It looks at why ADHD symptoms can intensify during transitions like perimenopause, pregnancy and the premenstrual phase, reframing ADHD as a dynamic brain–body condition rather than a fixed diagnosis.
